I've had a few inquiries about What Steps We Carry, my latest novel WIP, is actually about. So, here's a brief teaser synopsis:

Across a span of twenty four years and set in various cities across the globe,What Steps We Carry explores the lives of six characters, the choices they make, and the consequences they must face.

The Colonel, an Iraqi artillery officer in charge of Saddam Hussein’s chemical weapons, fires on Halabja, an unarmed village in Kurdistan. Mohammed, a young boy living in that small village, flees with his sister and mother only to lose them forever in the Syrian desert. In Egypt, the Brickmaker’s Son is betrayed by his mother, torn from his humble origins, and sold into the Syrian sex trade. Jerry, a sadistic predator, crosses a line in the pursuit of his desires, not knowing how far he will have to go to find the next thrill. Nova, an impostor priest, finds himself unwilling to help a young girl in desperate need, and runs away from the responsibilities that have been given to him by the universe. Tying all the characters together is Millen, a messenger angel who has fallen in love with mortality, who will deliver her instructions and alter the lives of innumerable people but question how long she will answer her calling.

However, there are forces that move beyond the world people can see, and all of the characters in What Steps We Carry will be joined by place and time and fate, and will face the echoes of their choices together.
